Illuminations of the world
exhibition at the AM Gallery
Exhibition brings together Delson Uchôa and Luzia Simons
from June 25, in Belo Horizonte
The AM Gallery opens
on June 25, at 11am, the exhibition "Illuminations of the world" with two great
Brazilian artists, Delson Uchôa and Luzia Simons. They will be two distinct exhibitions
different, but "exhibiting them simultaneously allows the look to be distracted of its
differences and confront unexpected convergences. The relationship of distancing and proximity between
between the two is supported, right from the start, by the ideas of light that underpin them",
says researcher Moacir dos Anjos, responsible for the curatorial text. At
opening of the exhibition, art historian and critic Tereza de Arruda will have a
a chat with the two artists.
The exhibition
will also have the launch of the firstnon-fungible token ( NFT) of art
of Minas Gerais, in partnership with Tropix, a
a marketplace of NFTs focused on the sale of art under its own curatorship. An
NFT asset uses the same concept for digital arts, attaching to them a unique
unique, irreplaceable and unrepeatable code/hash, thanks to the
authentication of the sequence via blockchain.
"We will offer a work of Luzia Simons, a tokenized digital video with the right to
right to buy", explains Henrique Modenesi, director of AM Galeria.
Artists
One of the representative artists of the so-called
"80's Generation", Delson Uchôa is from Alagoas and has an extensive trajectory
of exhibitions - such as the biennials of Venice (Italy); São Paulo; Havana (Cuba) and
Cairo (Egypt). And works in collections such as Inhotim (Brumadinho, Brazil), Museu de
Arte Moderna do Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Museu de Arte Moderna de São Paulo
(Brazil), Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo (Brazil), Vogt Collection (Berlin,
Germany) and York Stack Collection (Berlin, Germany).
At
AM, 10 canvases by the artist will be presented. Loaded with colour, light and texture,
they are composed of energy currents "that seem to feed on themselves, in a process of
a process of autophagism, giving the sensation that they are living organisms
able to communicate with those who observe them* .".
Luzia Simons is from Ceará and currently lives and
currently lives and works in Berlin, Germany. On display at the AM will be 10 works by the artist
artist, who gained significant international notoriety by developing a very specific personal
a very specific personal scanogram technique on the theme of plants and nature in
nature in transition.
The artist scans an overall composition in the smallest
details, building a realistic and sensitive picture, an imposing work with prodigious
prodigious definition and a depth of field that the human eye alone cannot capture
can capture. In this methodology, objects are placed directly onto an industrial
industrial scanner that replicates in pixels even the smallest details and plays of light
in a linear fashion. The scanograms, enlarged in large scale and endowed with
dramatic lighting, characteristic of the baroque, inhabit a space between the
simple registration and metaphor. Not by chance, the artist found in the tulips
a perfect vehicle to question identity and expose, through them, a metaphor for globalisation.
a metaphor for globalisation.
