Cabral
Antônio Hélio Cabral was born in Marília, state of São Paulo, in 1948. Painter, designer, engraver, sculptor, teacher and architect. He came to São Paulo at the age of 10 with his parents and started his artistic activities in the backyard making ludic dolls with random found objects. His artistic formation is quite eclectic, but it stands out the interaction with Antônio Carelli and Raphael Galvez. As a teacher, he coordinated and taught at the art workshops of the Lasar Segall Museum and taught drawing and painting at the Pinacoteca do Estado de SP. He has participated in numerous important biennials and salons and has held important solo exhibitions in the most renowned Brazilian museums and galleries, as well as abroad, and his works are now part of the collections of major institutions and cultural centres in Brazil. Cabral currently dedicates himself mainly to painting, but also invests his ideas in drawings, engravings, sculptures and objects that value the aesthetics of the found.
