Eliana Amorim

Eliana Amorim (Exu, Pernambuco, 1996-) Mother, retirante, visual artist, researcher, art educator and cultural producer. Graduated in Visual Arts. Graduated in Visual Arts by the Arts Center of the Universidade Regional do Cariri-URCA. She is a member of the Research Group NZINGA: New (Inter)National Ziriguindus Generated in the Arts CNPq/URCA since 2018 and Co-leader of the same since 2020. As a nzingue, she is part of the organizing committee of the academic events International Seminar ARTE/GENERO/ENSINO em tempos de conservatismo and of the International Congress Artefatos da Cultura Negra. Researcher in the Project YABARTE: Gestational processes in contemporary art from black feminine thoughts and practices, developed within the Research Group NZINGA, both led by visual artist and university professor Dr. Renata Felinto. She is part of the racialized Brazilian artists collective National Trovoa and Caririense Artivist collective Karetas com Prekito. She has participated in the following residencies: Residency in Residence. Organic Orange Space. CIANTEC ARTE. With the tutorship of Leopoldo Taufenbach. (Jun 2020 - Jul 2020); Visual Arts Laboratory 2020 of the Porto Iracema School of Arts. Instituto Dragão do Mar. With the tutorship of Castiel Vitorino Brasileiro. (Nov 2020- May 2021); Artistic Residency Memórias Negres Natives II. Atelier CASAMATA. With the tutorship of Pedra Silva and Amandyra. (Dec 2020); and the Artist Residency LAB Reticências. Magazine Reticências. With the tutorship of Ana Lira. (April - 2021). She was present at the 72nd Salão de Abril, which takes place in Fortaleza and had the exhibition of the awarded artists at Casa do Barão de Camocim. In this year of 2021 also held his first solo exhibition, "INVOCATING THE SACRED: MEMORIES IN TRANSE", presented at the Cultural Center of Banco do Nordeste do Brasil, in Juazeiro do Norte-Ceará. Her researches and productions in the Visual Arts field approach gender and race issues in Brazil, and investigate intersections between art, magic and traditional knowledge of care and healing through nature shared between women healers from the countryside, which they have accessed through active listening and the encounter with memories. Among the techniques she uses, they are between rituals and techniques and knowledge in the preparation of brooms and remedies with plants aligned with artistic techniques such as painting, installation, performance and photography.
