Io Laura Cattani E Munir Klamt

Ío is formed by artists Laura Cattani (1980, Les Lilas/France) and Munir Klamt (1970, Porto Alegre/RS), PhD students in Visual Poetics (UFRGS).

The balance between opposites is one of the leading threads of his production and that keeps his works in tension. Attraction and repulsion, weight and lightness, organic and artificial, sensuality and violence are some of the concepts present in his works.

Awards and residencies: 2015. Special Jury Award for the exhibition Aporia and nomination in the category Best Group Exhibition (exhibition Tohu Wa-Bohu) at the IX Açorianos de Artes Plásticas Award, Porto Alegre/RS. 2014. Nomination to the VIII Açorianos Award of Visual Arts in the category Outstanding Technological Media with the exhibition: Studies for flooding, Porto Alegre/RS. 2013. Awarded the 2nd IEAVi Award - Incentive to Visual Arts production with the exhibition Do Lado de Fora de um Quarto Fechado, Porto Alegre/RS; SALA_TALLER III, 3-month artistic residence at Espacio de Arte Contemporáneo (EAC) in Montevideo/Uruguay. 2012. Nominated for the VII Açorianos de Artes Plásticas Award in the following categories: Technological Media Highlight with the exhibition: Do Lado de Fora de um Quarto Fechado Technological Media Highlight with the work of Web Art: www.io.art.br.
