Monica Piloni

In sculptures, objects and photographs, Monica Piloni (Curitiba, Brazil, 1978) distorts the human body with dismemberment, omission or multiplication of elements, which generate a disturbing and unnatural form, often morbid. Her work simultaneously questions the sexualisation of the female figure and instigates sensuality, through distorted naked bodies that repel and attract.

His solo exhibitions include "Monica...", Epicentro, São Paulo, in 2017, and the urban intervention "Illegals", in Rua da Aurora, Recife, in 2014. He has participated in group shows such as "Demasiado Pasolini", Biblioteca Mário de Andrade (2015); TRIO Biennial, MNBA, National Museum of Fine Arts, Rio de Janeiro (2015); "Nova escultura brasileira", Caixa Cultural, Rio de Janeiro (2011), "O Colecionador de Sonhos" Instituto Figueiredo Ferraz, Ribeirão Preto (2011), among others. His work appears in important Brazilian collections, such as Inhotim, MAC Niterói and Instituto Figueiredo Ferraz.
