Failed economic models encourage land degradation, destroy ecosystems and fuel climate change. Several photographic projects record in aerial images massive mining operations, industrial pollution lagoons merging with the ocean, oil spills, natural disasters of wildfires, melting glaciers and modifications in the landscape of the Anthropocene.

Without getting on a plane for many months due to travel restrictions imposed by the Covid19 pandemic, I decided to build my own repository of geographical formations in an attempt to evoke the poignancy and melancholy that come with the disappearance of something beautiful in the natural world. Through a process of reverse mining I construct my landscapes with deposition of ferric oxides, accumulations of salts and rust on paper. 

I fly over Akhenaton's uninhabited archipelago with its landscapes of eternal sun - terra incognita. The photographs on these sites are organic and pictorial reminiscences, offering information that operates on both a metaphorical and documentary level. Thus using false images and real news, I wish to explore the concepts of reality and truth.
