Description
Following the reasoning of "#I_am_on_line" came "I am light". Hoping to help viewers understand that happiness comes from within, Wickbold invites them to look at themselves and seek the understanding that everything we need is actually within ourselves. "When we get absorbed by this environment of social networks we will always be dissatisfied, because the other person's life seems to have more value than ours," says the artist. "This series seeks to understand that the human being is light and it is from within him that an infinite universe of possibilities departs." By mixing photographic techniques with the already traditional construction of human installations, made by painting the models and applying various elements, such as glitter, the images of the series sometimes resemble an explosion, sometimes fireworks, sometimes lava, sometimes an internal boiling, sometimes a universe that is within us. Wickbold wanted to show that we can be whatever we want if we have the ability and the courage to face the reality of ourselves - a very great spiritual and existential conflict as well - because the human being will always want to be more fragile, to show his weaker side. And our life will always be about overcoming. For him, we are capable of rediscovering ourselves, of enlightening ourselves through our own existence. It is necessary to understand that this rediscovery is much more personal, we are our true source of inspiration and light. This is the main motto of this work. "When we connect deeply with our vital energy, we realize that we are a great universe of possibilities. This motivated me to research various techniques to represent this spiritual illumination," says the artist. Each series ended up accompanying a main element, his signature. "Naïve" was the cracked man, "Sexual Colors" was the paint, "Sans Tache" the crickets destroying the images, "I_am_on_line" the lines and "I am light" the glitter that used a mixture of very simple, very photographic techniques. "Although my work is increasingly distancing me from just being a photographer, this series is extremely photographic. Her technique is a pure photography technique. Like it or not it's a cycle that is closing," says Wickbold. "All my works came grounded in a technique that is very different, but is also very captivating, of always putting the viewer in doubt whether it is a painting, a photograph, a digitally manipulated image... That's what I most like to provoke in the viewer, how it was to arrive at that final result."
