Exhibition "The Tension" by Leandro Erlish

From January 5, a set of 20 large-scale works will change the way we see the Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil Belo Rio de Janeiro building: floating boats and lifts, windows to imaginary gardens and even a swimming pool where visitors can get dressed and stay underwater without fear of drowning are part of the show by one of the most provocative and popular names in contemporary art, Argentine Leandro Erlich.

The exhibition "The Tension" (with an explicit and sonorously ambiguous name: those who do not read can hear "attention"), reveals, already in its title, one of the probable feelings that the visitors will feel in front of the artist's installations. This is because Erlich works with references that are, literally, "common-places", spaces that we are used to seeing on a daily basis, but which are out of the ordinary.

Erlich's work is structured on the mechanism of doubt, of questioning what our senses perceive at odds with what our mind knows. The viewer is placed in banal everyday situations, such as taking a lift, being in a classroom, but the optical illusions and the subversion of reality proposed by the artists make their works gain connotations of surrealist adventure.

The show is on show at CCBB RJ until March 7, with free admission and tickets can be picked up virtually. Get yours in advance and plan your visit well. Respect the time chosen for the visitation, because the show is subject to overbooking and there is a limit of people per hour.
