Ideas - The Legacy of Giorgio Morandi" exhibition

With a profound investigation of colour and light permeating subtleties, Giorgio Morandi devoted himself intensely to still-life painting, especially of sets of bottles. His style was marked by a work that reflects on time and the relationships produced by the gaze. This universe will be represented in The Legacy of Morandi, at the Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil RJ. Curated by the duo Alberto Salvadori and Gianfranco Maraniello, the show brings together works that came directly from the Museo Morandi, located in the city of Bologna. The artist also takes part in the 34th São Paulo Biennial, which can be visited free of charge at the Ciccillo Matarazzo Pavilion, in Ibirapuera Park, until December 5, 2021.

"The exhibition route presents a variety of diverse works - among paintings, watercolours, drawings and etchings - that form a metric composed of continuous formal references and tonal variations, and bring to light the themes examined by Morandi from his beginnings to maturity: still lifes, flowers and landscapes, the privileged subjects of his continuous research into new representational modalities and objects of an extremely current enquiry into pictorial and graphic language and the infinite possible relationships between volumes, space, light and colour," highlights curator Gianfranco Maraniello.
