Curated by Aracy Amaral and Regina Teixeira de Barros, the exhibition brings together 203 works that had been kept from public view for more than five decades

Tarsila do Amaral (1886-1973) used to carry notebooks with her to draw. With a pencil on a piece of paper, she would eternalise in drawings the landscapes she passed through. The sketches and studies helped shape her artistic thinking and sometimes served as a basis for her pictorial work, her best known and acclaimed work. A rare set comprising 203 of these drawings will be exhibited at the show Studies and Noteson display from March 14, at Fábrica de Arte Marcos Amaro - FAMA Museu, an institution based in Itu, a city near Capivari, where the artist was born.

Hidden from public view for over five decades, in a private collection, the drawings were exhibited only once, in 1969, at the Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro, in an exhibition organised by the critic and art historian Aracy Amaral, who is now the curator of the current show alongside the researcher Regina Teixeira de Barros.
