Virtual exhibition - "Where my house lives

During the current pandemic, French artist Jeanne Susplugas began collecting personal accounts of different lockdown experiences. The stories were passed on to writer Claire Castillon, who reinterpreted the situations, creating powerful and imaginary narratives.

The work "Where my house lives" does not intend to make a precise analysis or a sociological study, but offers a palette of experiences, some painful, frustrating, others bitter and disconcerting, deeply and powerfully revealing our reactions in the face of an unknown and unpredictable event.

Extreme situations, desires, lies, acts of violence and misunderstandings caused by confinement. Between the lines, the artist questions the function of the home as a "place of refuge" and condemns how much the condition of women has regressed, as well as the increase in domestic violence during this imposed confinement. Aarea.co is an unprecedented platform for the presentation of artistic work conceived directly for the internet, idealized by Livia Benedetti and Marcela Vieira. Livia and Marcela became partners and realized that artistic production had not yet occupied the internet with creative property, only as a means of dissemination.

It was then that in February 2017, the platform was inaugurated presenting works made on the internet by artists who do not usually work with digital art. To date there have been more than 29 unpublished projects. The work, during its exhibition, occupies the entire site without space for logo or characters that are not integral to the work. The site becomes the artwork in each edition.

The name Aarea.co is geared towards an idea of negation of the concept of area - the initial A is a prefix that generates the idea of opposition of the original word, going against the reflection that the internet is an artistic place even if it is not a place itself.
