Cesar Brandao 1
Santos Dumont, MG, 1956. César Brandão lives and works in Juiz de Fora, MG.
He took part in the 19th SP Biennale and has works in the MAM-SP and MASC-USP collections.
Son of a worker, lived his childhood and adolescence in a poor neighborhood near the industries with furnaces for carbide, iron silicon. The elements of this industrial context were always present in his work, fire, smoke, products resulting from the foundries, and materials used there: lime, coal, stone, quartz, scrap metal, etc. This context generated his fascination for foundries in contrast with the gambiarras, which permeate his production. It is, therefore, about the poetics of these practices of popular culture, in contradiction to industrial processes.
