5th edition of the European and Latin American Biennial brings together Brazilian artists, proposing dialogue between art and sustainability

 

Art as an agent of reflection on sustainability and environmental issues. This is the motto of the European and Latin American Biennial of Contemporary Art, which reaches its 5th edition with the theme "Nature in Art". The itinerant event, which has already been to Finland this year, arrives on 22 December at the Centro Cultural Correios in São Paulo, where it will remain until 12 February 2022. Curated by the Brazilian Edson Cardoso - owner of AVA Galleria, in Finland -, the show brings together 35 Brazilian artists and includes in its programme the individual shows of Cota Azevedo and Gui Mazzoni. All of them have in common the proposal of promoting a consistent dialogue between distinct cultures through the exhibition of their works, manifested in bronze paintings and sculptures.

 

"By promoting this intercultural dialogue, we show the general public what artists from different cultures are developing in contemporary art, unifying continental distances through their gazes on a single theme. We wish to highlight the importance of these works as agents of reflection on environmental preservation, as well as on their roots and traditions", states one of the curators, Edson Cardoso, who has already held exhibitions in the main cities of the world (UN Headquarters in New York, Louvre Museum in Paris, Osaka City Hall in Japan, Braga Museum in Portugal) and in other important spaces in Brazil - Oscar Niemeyer Museum, MAM in Rio, MuBe Sculpture Museum and National History Museum).
