CASA TATO EXHIBITION: Editions 4 and 5
Casa Tato, project idealized by Tato DiLascio, director of
Galeria Tato, is an independent initiative with the proposal of
establishing networks between agents of the art circuit and market and in the
professional development of visual artists. It is composed by
a program of more than 100 hours of online meetings during
the period of 6 months, with 14 selected artists participating
per edition with several professionals of the art circuit and two
collective exhibitions, in person. On the next 19/11/21 will be
inaugurated simultaneous exhibitions of the editions 4 and 5, curated
by Rejane Cintrão and Mariana Leme, respectively. They will take place in
exhibition space located at Rua Diogo de Aros, 55, Jardim
Everest, São Paulo - SP. House designed by architect Rino Levi
CASA TATO | Edition 4
The exhibition Casa Tato 4 - #2021 is the second held this year
curated by Rejane Cintrão, and brings together about 30 works by 12
artists, whose production was monitored over six months.
This second stage of Casa Tato 4 takes place in a singular space,
designed in the 1960s by none other than Rino Levi.
The house, projected in several levels, generous in space and natural light
, led the curators to think of a project divided in
four parts: the first one, inspired in the work MA, by Claudia
Kiatake, invites the spectator to stop, think and contemplate the
works, with time and dedication, as all art deserves. This room
starts and ends the exhibition.
The second part of the exhibition was inspired by the
modern architecture of the house, very present in this area where windows, stairs and
different levels live together harmoniously. The works almost
monochromatic and metallic by Fabio Benetti introduce us to this
room with a modern vocation, but with a very contemporary touch.
The corridor leading to the fourth room, which is the third
environment of this exhibition, brings together various paintings by Vera Toledo,
where we come across beautiful landscapes and everyday objects
portrayed in paintings of modern hues, but with extremely current
themes, involving loneliness, and estrangement and introducing us to the fourth room of this show, where we find
works that lead us to reflect on what has been discussed
both in social networks and in the media, as well as in many artistic
spaces, such as the São Paulo Biennale, for example. The isolation,
the territories created by political and economic powers, the
importance of inclusion in contemporary society, the collapse
of our cultural institutions, and a huge question mark
about our future.
These are not easy times we are living through. However,
these facts are what life is offering us now. What
are we going to do so that we can live them in the best way? The life
is passing in front of us, in a faster and faster way.
Are we going to be encapsulated in the social networks begging for more likes
and followers, while life is happening? What would John Lennon say if
were alive today?

CASA TATO | Issue 5
The exhibition Encounters, contingencies presents the
artists of Casa Tato 5 and signals, from the dialogues between the
works - and from them with the space designed by Rino Levi - some
collaborative strategies, ephemeral and fluid, unstable. Not the
idyll of a static "collective", but politics in its most generous sense
, the possible and sometimes unpredictable arrangements.
How to balance oneself in the world and in society? Balance can also be
a constant movement. How to assume the fragility (the
lure) of the white, masculine and extractivist Western vision, which
places itself above everything and desires a homogeneous world, a monoculture
of human and non-human species? The constellations, of which
Krenak speaks, may signal a possible future.
It is true that we live in a torn world, but perhaps the
fortuitous and ephemeral associations can help us imagine a
future that is less unequal and violent. From the contingencies - that which
escapes us and the reality that imposes itself - encounters may arise and,
why not, a possible survival because it is collaborative. In
constant movement.
