A alegria não é a prova dos nove is a project for the occupation of the Casa França-Brasil, curated by Alexandre curated by Alexandre Sá, which is not inscribed as a collective exhibition, in the sense of the sense of an expanded construction with diverse works in order to potentiate issues in common issues. On the contrary, as explicitly stated in the subtitle, it is an archipelago of singular eccentric points, capable of provoking, as the dictionary indicates, the construction of space-time where the laws of physics collapse. Or, more concretely, of a set of individual exhibitions of artists with disparate poetics that will cross the boat of the desire to think their own works in relation to the the architecture of the Casa França-Brasil from a determined motto: Oswald de Andrade's already familiar phrase of Oswald de Andrade in the Manifesto Antropófago (Anthropophagic Manifesto), in which joy emerges as a feeling capable of proving elementary operations or as unquestionable proof of the relationship relation, not necessarily additive, between axes. Here, for us, joy is not capable of such an operation. of such an operation. Perhaps it cannot even fit into such logical responsibility. logic.


The 100 years since the Week of Modern Art appear only as a fog so that we can think Brazil, not necessarily primitive, but profound as a stumble, as an epiphany, based on individual questions as an epiphany, from individual questions that will be asked in this building and in its (our) history. building and in its (our) history. The latter, a Nago Buddha, precious birthday in 2022 with his 80 years, as well as Caetano Veloso, Milton Nascimento Nascimento, and Paulinho da Viola, reminds us that "Joy is the proof of nine. For us, here, still inside the shipwreck, perhaps it is possible to bet on check mate sinking that, if joy is not the proof of the nine, sadness is also no longer our safe harbour. The question that arises is to rebuild some other maturity so that we distrust a little the ports, the anchors, the kings, our certainties and of ourselves. So that we can think of another route for collective navigation, consciously fragile of the fragility that implies in knowing that anthropophagy is the fundamental north for all and any relationship that survives in us and that does not deserve to be obligatorily violent.
