A Brazilian Print Gallery is exhibiting recent etchings by the artist Maciej Babinski with online and in-person visitation from November 27, 2021.

 

In commemoration of Babinski's 90th birthday, the Gravura Brasileira gallery is hosting the exhibition"Babinski, 90" with works made between 2009 and 2021.

Babinski was born in Warsaw in 1931 and currently lives in Várzea Alegre, in Cariri, southern Ceará.

His etchings are full of energy, the trace fills the paper in a labyrinthine way, creating claustrophobic spaces, rich with images and characters.

Their deformed, charming and grotesque figures occupy all possible space.

The small size of the works increases the energetic drive of the prints.

Technical virtuosity brings pulse and frenzy to the art of printmaking.

The proliferation of twisting, nervous strokes encompasses landscape and creatures in a rendering full of electricity.

Babinski, 90 brings to the São Paulo spectator his art of great freedom and pleasure of living.

 

"Babinski, 90" is open to the public until February 12, 2022 at the Gravura Brasileira gallery, Tuesdays through Fridays from 2-6pm.

No appointment is necessary.

The space follows the recommendations of the health authorities with social distancing, alcohol gel and mandatory use of mask.
