The duo MAR+VIN, formed by the photographers Marcos Florentino and Kelvin Yule, presents its first solo exhibition of fine art photography at Mario Cohen Gallery. Curated by Mario Cohen himself and with an opening text by Eder Chiodetto, the show brings together 42 images in the virtual exhibition and 35 in the physical exhibition.
The artistic duo has made recent creations that equate and renew the triad fashion-art-politics, with debates about inclusion and giving protagonism to the majority minimized by a system that permanently maintains the status quo of the Brazilian patriarchal and racist society. In Eder's words, "MAR+VIN hits the distorted tradition with elegance, power and a radical beauty".
They go deep into the investigation of the roots and how the character of the Brazilian people is formed, and from this journey the negritude wonderfully emerges, as well as the references to the original peoples of Brazil, also emphasizing gender issues, always present in the discussions around their works.
