Group exhibition, Poente Gallery launches exhibition with 70 new works by artists from the Valley and the Capital

 

The return of cultural attractions in Vale de Paraíba also marks the plastic arts. Launched on November 25, Galeria Poente in São José dos Campos opens its doors to the exhibition "The first year of the rest of our lives", which brings together 27 artists in the most different languages, with works produced during the pandemic.

Composed of 70 works of artists from the Valley and São Paulo, will be exhibited creations in various languages such as: sculptures, photography, painting, watercolor, mosaic, engraving, graffiti, among others. The title parodies the name of Joel Schumacher's film; released in the 90s, it tells the story of a group of recently graduated friends, who are faced with the bitter reality of the real world, having to live with professional and emotional insecurity in this new phase of life. "Unlike the film, this exhibition seeks to exalt existence with its ups and downs, and the fact that even with losses we need to continue producing and fighting for our dreams," says Paulo Henrique Rosa, owner of Poente.

 

Exchange of experience: Bringing together young and old, the exhibition features works by 24-year-old Jenifer Cristina (youngest artist in the group), an independent visual artist for the first time at the gallery. The artist produces works that use techniques such as watercolor, Indian ink, acrylic, colored pencil, pastel chalk, embroidery, woodcut and tattoo; and Regis Machado, 77, with more than five decades dedicated to the plastic arts, with constructivist and minimalist works that explore materials, forms, and colours.

In this group exhibition, Jenifer will present works inspired by Brazilian indigenous and African diversity, mainly in the figure of women; while Regis (artist with longer production time in the group) brings geometric works, produced in a series of collages that use wallpaper. Even from different generations, both maintain the curiosity and the investigation of new aesthetic possibilities in this exhibition will share the same space in the eyes of the public. These are characteristics that the other 25 artists participating in the exhibition show, whether they are young in search of an identity or mature artists with decades of production.
