PORTINARI FOR EVERYONE AT MIS EXPERIENCE
The exhibition"Portinari for all" revisits the work of one of the great icons of 20th century art in an unprecedented way, providing an immersive experience in the artist's universe.
The show is divided into three exhibition areas. The first brings seven interactive installations for the public to learn more about the life and legacy of the artist. Next, the visitor enters the Portinari immense room, which allows immersion in the works, on a monumental scale, in a contemplative and engaging manner. The third space contextualizes the Portinari collection and its connection with the culture and history of the country, reiterating the importance of preserving the memory of the artist.
"Portinari for All will offer a unique experience, which will allow new generations to engage with the power, diversity and uniqueness of the artist's work", says Marcos Mendonça, general director of ACCIM - Ciccillo Matarazzo Cultural Association, which manages MIS, MIS Experience and Paço das Artes.
João Candido Portinari, founder and coordinator of the Portinari Project, which has the mission of preserving and democratizing the artist's legacy, also highlights this unique opportunity. "I don't even know how to express the enthusiasm with which we are working at full steam to bring to the widest swathes of the public a Portinari never seen before. An immersive, interactive, digital Portinari, in the innovative format of the MIS Experience, an unprecedented experience on a monumental scale."
The curatorship of Portinari for all is signed by Marcello Dantas, award-winning interdisciplinary curator with extensive activity in Brazil and abroad. He was behind the conception of several museums, among which the Museu da Língua Portuguesa and the Japan House, in São Paulo, the Museu do Homem Americano and the Museu da Natureza, in Piauí, and the Caribbean Museum, in Colombia.
The exhibition, presented by Bradesco, is a realization of the Ministry of Tourism, Special Secretariat of Culture, São Paulo State Government, through the Secretariat of Culture and Creative Economy of São Paulo, São Paulo City Hall, Municipal Department of Culture and MIS Experience through the Culture Incentive Law and Promac. The conception is by Magnetoscópio and Projeto Portinari, and counts with the partnerships of TV Cultura and Museu Casa de Portinari.
