THE SHOW
The Museum Exhibition: Art in the Quarantine unites art, music, and technology as a device to bring together public, work, and artist in the project's multimedia platform and an open-air exhibition.
Structured as a hybrid project - online and offline -, Mostra Museu brings an intersection between visual arts with a global focus and the Brazilian musical production, and aims to give light to the artistic production made during the period of social isolation imposed by the pandemic. Furthermore, it proposes reflections on feelings and perceptions of what we are living.
For the visual arts axis, the Mostra received registrations via a call for submissions of works produced from March 12th, 2020 - the day a state of public calamity was decreed by WHO(World Health Organization), in two final formats: video and image - that present in themselves different languages: digital creations, drawing, graphic design, painting, photography, graffiti, visual poetry, video art, collage, installation, performance, body art, among other hybrid manifestations.
The selection made by the curators of the show, Ana Carolina Ralston and The Covid Art Museum (CAM), was made in two stages: the first selection was based on CAM's collection, while the second was based on the applications made through our platforms.
In all there were more than 1,200 entries from 40 different countries, about 200 works were selected along with the artists' testimonials that tell about their creative processes during the pandemic, and the conception of the works.
For the music axis, invited by curator Pedro Henrique França, contemporary artists from the Brazilian music scene who created inspired by this period, integrate the Mostra's collection with their new work. The playlists and video clips are divided into the categories Side A: Now Present, focused on established artists who reinvented themselves during the pandemic; and Side B: Look into the Future, focused on new talents.
The collection of the Museum Exhibition: Art in Quarantine is integrally available here on the project's platform, on Spotify, and in exhibitions that take place in the urban furniture in public spaces, where the public, through a QRcode, has access to all the content.
