O Pontal Museum, an international reference in Brazilian popular art, based in Barra da Tijuca since last October, will be open normally on 26 and 27 February 2022which would normally be Carnival, and, besides the six exhibitions "Novo Ares! Pontal Reinvented".with several interactive works, it will offer to the public the activities Music Tour through Brazilian Popular Art and Culture and the Baú de Brinquedos Populares (Popular Toys Chest)in the morning and afternoon..

At two times, at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., a Music Tour this weekend will emphasise the marches of Carnival, based on the work "Samba School", by Adalton Fernandes Lopes (1938 - 2005), with its more than 300 ceramic characters that move to the rhythm of to the rhythm of the music.

O Popular Toys Chestat 12h and 16h, coordinated by the team of the Museu do Pontal, was inspired by the sculptures in the current exhibitions, especially Brincares - games and players. Children are invited to play, with their families, in the Garden-Plaza of the Museu do Pontalwith its ten thousand square metres of area. The toys used are ioiôs, bilboquês, petecas (bouncy balls), piões (spinning tops), puppets, elastics and ropes to jump, chalk to cross the hopscotch and bambolês.

SIX INAUGURAL EXHIBITIONS - "NEW AIR! PONTAL REINVENTED

The set of exhibitions is entitled "New Airs! Pontal Reinvented".and celebrates and celebrates the new headquarters of the Museu do Pontal in Barra Tijuca, inaugurated last October. One exhibition is a long-term one, and the other five are: Brincares - Brincadeiras e brincantes; Terra/Terra - O Jequitinhonha and its traditions; Entre beiras e margens - Fogo, água, ar; Poética da criação; and Devoções.

 

The exhibitions also offer works e interactive games for all ages, such as the interactive digital game of Brazilian dances in which the participant learns steps of frevo, jongo, carimbó, chula or funk. At the end, the new dancer is evaluated and his or her grade is sent by e-mail, together with a video of the game.

 

The Pontal Museum also houses the coffee shop Divino Café and the Brazilian popular art shop GIM Imaginary Gallerywith works and design pieces by contemporary popular artists.

 

Currently the institution has the Instituto Cultural Vale as a strategic sponsor and BNDES, Itaú, Repsol Sinopec, Ternium and the City Hall of Rio as patrons.

11am and 3pm - Music Tour of Brazilian Popular Art and Culture

A Music Tour this weekend will emphasize the marches of Carnival, based on the work "Samba School", by Adalton Fernandes Lopes (1938 - 2005), with its more than 300 ceramic characters that move to the rhythm of to the rhythm of the music.

The music tours were created to meet a demand from the public who want to know more about the popular art of Brazil. The itineraries are adapted to different age groups, and some themes may be prioritized during the visit, according to the public's request. These are playful visits that stir the visitors' affective memory, in which different musical instruments are used to play typically Brazilian rhythms such as samba, forró, coco, jongo, maracatu, ciranda and capoeira, among others, always according to the theme approached in the collection. During the visit, the participants are encouraged to reflect on Brazilian cultural diversity, the relations between the countryside and the big cities, the migration processes, the different professions, social practices, family relations, festivities, spirituality and also on issues related to the universe of plastic arts, the creative processes of the artists and the materials they use to make their sculptures.

 

12 noon and 4pm - Toy chest

The art educators of the Museu do Pontal encourage the children to get to know o Baú de Brinquedos Populares (Popular Toys chest). In this unprecedented initiative, children can play with yo-yos, bilboquês, shuttlecocks, spinning tops, puppets, rubber bands and ropes for jumping, chalk for scribbling hopscotch mats and hula hoops. The sculptures seen in the exhibitions, especially in Brincares - brincadeiras e brincantesand this activity promotes a playful outdoor contact in the large Garden-Square in front of the Museum. In case of rain, the activity takes place in the Multipurpose Room.
