In the year that marks the first centenary of the Week of Modern Art and the second centenary of the Declaration of Independence of Brazil, Sesc Pinheiros proposes a new reflection on the narratives of construction of Brazilian identity. On June 28, 29 and 30 and July 5, 6 and 7, the seminar "Brasis - Territories of Dissonance" will bring together intellectuals and artists at the Teatro Paulo Autran to reflect on the historical intersections between these two defining events of our past with Brazil today.

"There is an urgent need to publicly discuss the problems of chronic socio-economic inequality, the capture of the State by corporate agendas, structural racism and, in the antipodes, the self-determination of peoples and communities, the recognition and valuing of different cultural matrices and, also, the unpostponable historical reparation owed to peoples who have been neglected by Brazil in the singular," says Danilo Santos de Miranda (Regional Director of Sesc São Paulo).

Addressing issues such as new voices in cultural production, indigenous literature, social achievements of the last century and theresistance of art to contemporary colonial violence, the program consists of round tables, conferences and artistic interventions and integrates the network action "Diverse 22: Projects, Memories, Connections", developed by Sesc São Paulo. Registration can be made for the entire program or each day of the event on the site of the unit (https://www.sescsp.org.br/sesc-pinheiros-realiza-o-seminario-brasis-territorios-dissonantes/).
