Karen Axelrud

Karen Axelrud was born in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, in 1965. Post graduate in arts at the University FEEVALE, in Painting, Drawing and Installation in 2012 and graduated in architecture and urbanism at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul - UFRGS, in 1990. Develops studies and practice in the field of art since 2005. She has held solo exhibitions in cultural institutions and museums such as: Museum of Art of Rio Grande do Sul Ado Malagoli - MARGS with the exhibition Matrix, Curitiba City Print Museum - MGCC with the exhibition Matrix, Pinacoteca of the University FEEVALE with the exhibitions Systems of Registration of Time and exhibition Black Pools, Art Gallery of Campus 8, City of Arts of the University of Caxias do Sul - UCS with the exhibition Combinations, Espaço Cultural da Escola Superior de Propaganda e Marketing - ESPM-SUL with the exhibition Entretempos, as well as collective exhibitions in several cultural spaces in Brazil and abroad as in the MoMa Learining Center in New York, NY, USA and in the Caldwell Snyder Gallery in San Francisco, California. His works are in public collections at Museu de Arte do Rio Grande do Sul Ado Malagoli - MARGS, Museu de Artes Visuais Ruth Schneider, MAVRS, Pinacoteca Barão de Santo Ângelo do Instituto de Artes da UFRGS and Gráfica da UFRGS. Has works in private collections as the LING Institute in RS, Museu do Trabalho in RS, IBEMA Companhia Brasileira de Papel in PR and Collection of Monica and George Kornis in RJ. She was awarded 2nd place in the 6th Ibema Gravure Award - Brazil 2016. Lives and develops his artistic work in Porto Alegre/RS
