Poente Gallery, a contemporary art gallery located in São José dos Campos, invites interested people to visit the visual arts exhibition of the GEMA collective.

The exhibition proposes the occupation of the gallery's three spaces with works by young artists who are part of the collective, where we will find paintings, collage, sculpture, installations, serigraphy, objects, etc.

GEMA is a collective of five young visual artists that was formed in August 2020, in the city of São José dos Campos. In the studio, five friends met routinely between the gaps occasioned by their trades and, without preconceived ideas, gave shape to a communal existence. The coexistence between the companions, students of Architecture and Visual Arts, is started from the dedication to the constant stimulus to creativity, exchange of experiences, fight for survival and passion for art.

The first group show of Galeria Gema took place in November 2020 and included more than 70 works, including paintings, collages, installations and projection. In January 2021, the artists participated in the online festival "Tá no Ar!", promoted by the Cassiano Ricardo Cultural Foundation and produced five short films through different poetics and visual experimentations.

In December 2021, the collective held its first independent art auction and, in the same month, promoted the second group show at Território Bar, also in São José dos Campos.

Mini Bio of the artists:

Antony Pedroso

Graduating in Architecture and Visual Artist, born in São José dos Campos.

Born in 96, his artistic experience is inherent to the ways he interprets life.

His artistic production is based on his everyday perceptions, and converses with his interests between space and human relations. Resident at Gema Gallery, she uses the technique of oil on canvas as her main means of expression.

Débora Venanzoni

She is a young visual artist, art educator and resident at Gema Gallery.

Born in São Caetano do Sul - SP, but developed her roots in joseense soil, where she is nurtured and moved by the arts and dedicates her time to academic research and art-education for children and young people. With a special interest in contemporary processes, since 2013 she develops her artistic productions in analogical languages, having collage as her main form of expression.

Levi Berdigamo

He is a young artist and resident of GEMA.

Levi plants. And he feeds the soil that leads his path made up of natural bodies, formed by living matter. He cultivates the seeds that germinate his ideas made up of solid, liquid, dynamic and three-dimensional parts. He cultivates the roots that are transformed into art and offer an existence that materialises in layers of paint. Levi invents and reinvents

Natane Espindola

Stylist, artist and entrepreneur from Valeparaibana.

She has a degree in Fashion Production from Senac São José dos Campos, is studying Visual Arts at UNIVAP and works as an art educator in primary schools I and II.

Resident at Galeria Gema, her works are confused between feeling and creating and she finds in the mixed language the means to express her art, subverting her technical knowledge of her trajectory in the textile world and proposing a new look for conventional materials.

Insatiable in seeking motives for his productions, he found in art-education a soothing for his restless mind.

Saint Barthelemy

Emerging artist from the interior of São Paulo, São Bartolomeu explores all the languages he can: his music, paintings on canvas and paper, furniture, pennants, films and everything that can be produced being potent and curious, has emerged from 2018 to now in exhibitions held and in progress. Resident of GEMA in São José dos Campos, the young artist has walked together with the collective, proposing urban interventions and exhibitions in the city.
