Derlon

The visual artist Derlon was born in Recife in 1985. As a teenager, he practiced graffiti on the streets and discovered his great interest in mural painting. He studied various printmaking techniques in free courses and had a greater affinity with woodcut and wood engraving. He studied Social Sciences at UFPE (Federal University of Pernambuco), but interrupted the course to dedicate himself more to painting.
With a greater mastery of muralism and with a very striking visual identity, he had his first works recognised. He took part in SPA (Visual Arts Week of Recife), in 2005 and 2006, and soon afterwards did an artistic occupation in Marseille, France, in 2007. He had the honour of working with Samico in the 47˚ Salão de Artes Plásticas de Pernambuco in 2008. His first solo exhibition took place at Artur Fidalgo gallery in Rio de Janeiro in 2011. He has recently produced murals in Lisbon, Paris and at the Brazilian Embassy in London. He has been actively working exhibiting his works, both in art institutions and galleries, and in murals in Brazil and abroad. He currently lives in São Paulo.
