With a degree in Architecture and Urbanism (FAU-UFRJ), he began to work in the profession, still as an intern, in places that were fundamental for the development of his experience as an active observer, such as the National Pro-Memory Foundation, in the restoration of the Paço Imperial building, in the office HJ Cole + Associados and already as an architect, in the Brazilian Company of Urban Trains.

The interest for geometry, projects, concepts, flows, construction and reconstruction within the urban space were already part of his experience when he started his visual arts training at Escola do Parque Lage, Rio de Janeiro.

Painting has become the main medium of expression in his artistic production, which is also presented through photography, drawing and, recently, installation.

A lean and complex language of lines and geometric elements, coming from architectural design, are erased, replaced by others that cover them, during the working process.

The image is always supported by surfaces of colours that together form the environment that the artist wishes to transmit in this representation of the feeling of urban space. Experience introjected in each subject: the landscape and its geometry, the space in its dynamics and the speed in its time.

His works are created from a process of construction and reconstruction.

Manoel Novello establishes a dialogue of his production with the observation of the metropolis where he lives and of others to which he eventually travels.
